The Planetary Exploration Lab at Northern Arizona University
Welcome to the Planetary Exploration Lab (PEL) in the Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science at Northern Arizona University! Led by Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Mark Salvatore, the PEL focuses on understanding the formation and evolution of planetary surfaces using field, laboratory, and remote sensing techniques. Research focuses largely on the geological, chemical, and ecological processes that occur in cold and dry desert environments on Earth, and are then applied to processes that occur on other planets where colder and drier conditions dominate.
